The opening round of the Mayo GAA Club Championship served up a feast of football on this evening, with thrilling encounters and no shortage of drama across the grades.

SENIOR

Liam Lavin and Fergal Boland hit the net for the hosts, while Aidan O’Shea and Liam Irwin struck for Breaffy in a contest that swung right to the final whistle.

In Clogher, Cillian O’Connor’s sharp shooting, finishing with 0-6 guided Ballintubber to a 0-12 to 0-10 win over Charlestown Sarsfields in testing windy conditions.

INTERMEDIATE

North Mayo rivals Lahardane MacHales and Ardnaree Sarsfields played out a 0-14 to 1-11 draw, with Ardnaree rescuing a point late on after leading by nine at half-time in blustery Bofeenaun.

Islandeady and Davitts also finished all square, their 1-16 each stalemate offering plenty of opening round entertainment.
