Just one placing to be decided as Mayo women's league reaches finale
JUST one game remains in the Eco Powered Cabinets Mayo Women's League - the Premier Division tie of Conn Rangers v Straide & Foxford to decide the bottom two placings in their division.
Conn and S&F are both on four points, with all other games completed, and the decider on who finishes bottom of the table will be scheduled in the coming weeks.
Last Friday evening's schedule was one of presentations - Ballina Town receiving their cup as Division 2 winners, rounding off their season with a 2-0 win over visitors Achill Rovers.
Kiltimagh Knock United (Division 1) and Crossmolina (Division 2) also received their respective runners-up silver, with the north Mayo side ending their league campaign on a winning note - 2-0 winners over Glenhest.
The only other game of the evening was an epic Premier Division clash between table toppers Castlebar Town and Swinford, which produced 10 goals. Town emerged winners on a 4-6 scoreline against 10-player Swinford, with six goals in the first half.
Town's Amy Dowling ended the game with four goals to her credit, with Swinford's Melissa Devaney getting herself a hat-trick as her side really battled throughout.
Next up for the seniors is the season finale, the McHale Agri, Forest & Garden Mayo Cup and Shield finals.
Those games will be played on Saturday, August 23, in Umbro Park, Milebush. Straide & Foxford United and Crossmolina will go head to head in the Mayo Shield final at 3.30 p.m., with Premier Division champions Castlebar Town taking on Division 1 side Kiltimagh Knock United at 6 p.m. in the Mayo Cup final.
Meanwhile, after this evening's (Monday) league fixtures, cup action is also the focus in the Under 19 grade later this week, with the first round of the Hayes Mechanical & Engineering Under 19 Girls Cup down for decision on Friday, August 15.
