Mayo GAA to seek ratification of Andy Moran as new senior football team manager

Following speculation earlier today, Mayo GAA would like to confirm that the process to appoint the next senior football team manager has now concluded.

Following a comprehensive and robust recruitment process, and in line with the appointment guidelines, Mayo GAA will be proposing Andy Moran for ratification as the new senior team manager at the next meeting of the county board.

Moran, one of Mayo’s most decorated and respected former players, will be supported by Colm Boyle and Paddy Tally. Together, they bring a wealth of experience from both playing and coaching at the highest levels of inter-county football.

In a statement issued this evening, Mayo GAA said: “Their combined knowledge, leadership and proven track records will be invaluable in driving the continued development and success of Mayo football.

“Mayo GAA would like to sincerely thank all candidates who expressed an interest in the position for their time, commitment and the professionalism they brought to the process. The level of interest and calibre of applicants once again highlights the strength and reputation of Mayo football.

“Mayo GAA looks forward to the formal ratification of Andy Moran and his management team and to beginning an exciting new chapter for the Mayo senior football team.”

Moran, who has gained management and coaching experience with both Monaghan and Leitrim in recent years, won eight Connacht GAA senior football medals with Mayo and played in six All-Ireland senior finals. He represented Mayo 150 times between league and championship, winning two All-Star awards and being named Footballer of the Year in 2017.

The Ballaghaderreen man also won three Sigerson titles with IT Sligo, two Allianz National Football League titles with Mayo, and two Mayo GAA senior football titles with his club.
