Stitching in Solidarity for COP30: Mary Robinson launches ‘Interwoven’ quilt project

A vibrant new initiative weaving together Ireland and Northern Ireland’s climate and nature efforts has been launched by Project Dandelion in collaboration with The Mary Robinson Centre.

The Interwoven / Fite Fuaite quilt project invites organisations from across Ireland and Northern Ireland to design and submit a 10 x 10 inches cotton square (with a 1 inch border for sewing) representing their climate action. These squares will be sewn into a large, physical quilt, symbolising the diverse yet unified response of Irish civil society to the climate and nature crises.

The completed quilt will travel to the UN Climate Conference (COP30) in Belém, Brazil, this November, where it will be exhibited as part of the global civil society Ethical Stocktake.

It will be a visual reminder of community-led action, creativity and hope.

Former President Mary Robinson, co-founder of Project Dandelion, said: “We need the collective activities that are going on in this country. More than ever, we need solidarity, and that's why I'm inviting you to take part in Interwoven. By creating a quilt square representing your organisation's climate action, you'll be part of a larger tapestry of hope, resilience and action.

"The quilt will travel to COP30 in Belém in November and will symbolise our collective strength: raising visibility for the incredible work and momentum already being built up. We need your voice, it matters, and your story matters. So join us and help us to weave something powerful together.”
