Mayo’s Mary Robinson urges action to stop 'genocide' and 'famine' in Gaza

Ballina’s Mary Robinson has called for urgent international action to halt what she described as the “unfolding genocide” and looming famine in Gaza.

The former President of Ireland, visiting the Egypt–Gaza border as part of the UN Elders group delegation, said: “Governments failing to use all tools at their disposal are increasingly complicit.”

She urged political leaders to apply every legal and diplomatic measure to pressure Israel, warning the crisis was escalating in light of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s Gaza City takeover plan.

Ms Robinson also appealed to US President Donald Trump to use his influence to “compel a change of course.”
