Mayo Irish Diaspora Society announces awards recipients

NINE individuals and groups are to be honoured at the Mayo Irish Diaspora Society 2025 Awards ceremony next month.

The recipients are as follows:

Irish American Award: Bishop Kevin Sweeney, New Jersey.

Hall of Fame Award: The Ruane family, Sydney and Ballyvary.

International Humanitarian Award: The Samali Foundation, Galway.

Yewtree Award: Gerardine O’Mahony and family, Ballaghaderreen.

Young Persons Award: Irish Youth Foundation, London.

Sr. Rosemary Connelly, RSM, Chicago, Posthumous Award: The Mayo Abbey community.

Honorary Awards: Oisin Mullin, Australia and Kilmaine, Basil Burke, Solihull and Kiltimagh, and Brid O’Connell, Swinford.

The awards presentation lunch takes place in the Ellison Hotel, Castlebar, on Saturday, September 13, at 1.30 p.m.
