Serious overcrowding issues today at Mayo medical facility

Serious overcrowding issues are being reported at Mayo University Hospital today.

Up to 23 admitted patients are left without beds due to ongoing capacity problems.

A total of nine are being accommodated on trolleys or chairs at the centre's emergency department with a further 14 in wards elsewhere.

Nationally, 501 admitted patients are waiting for beds, according to today’s INMO Trolley Watch.

Of these, 331 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 170 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.
