CCTV cameras erected at Mayo walkway to tackle anti-social behaviour

CCTV cameras have been erected along the riverside walk in Castlebar in a bid to tackle anti-social behaviour at the location.

The cameras, which are connected to the local garda station, have 360 degree rotation.

Local Councillor Donna Sheridan has been campaigning for action at the location for a number of years.

She said: "I am delighted to welcome this investment.

"It is is part of a bigger active travel project at Brooklands, which will ultimately link the Newport Road with this walkway."

She thanked Castlebar Municipal District, the active travel team at Mayo County Council, O'Malley contractors and An Garda Siochána for their input into successfully completing the CCTV project.
