The interviews for the position of the new Mayo GAA Under 20 football team manager will take place next Saturday.

There are now three nominations for the post - Keith Higgins, John Maughan and David Brady, The Connaught Telegraph can reveal.

In a statement, Mayo GAA said the process of filling all management positions is progressing and, as a result, it is not in a position to release the names of the applicants or interview dates.

However, it will be interesting to see if it will be the same interview committee that conducted the interviews for the Mayo senior position.

Regardless of who will be doing the interviews, they have an important job on their hands.

Since this newspaper broke the news that former senior manager John Maughan was in the running for the Under 20 Mayo job, supporters around the county have been amazed that such a successful manager at inter-county and club level still has the appetite and desire to take on the Mayo Under 20 position.

It would seem his passion for Mayo GAA is still as big as ever.

Now that we have two other former Mayo players, David Brady and Keith Higgins, in the frame for the job, it will spark extra interest in the outcome of the interviews.

Meanwhile, the Meath senior football manager has moved very quickly to pick up Aaron Kernan and add him to his backroom team.

Kernan was on the Tony McEntee ticket that went for the Mayo senior job.

Indeed, McEntee is now believed to be linked with a move to Down.
