Big celebrations planned by Fine Gael party in west Mayo

The Fine Gael organisation in west Mayo is planning big celebrations next Friday.

The party is hosting a retirement function for former government minister and TD Michael Ring.

It takes place in the Castlecourt Hotel from 7 30 p.m. and a huge turnout is expected.

The event will be attended by Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe along with former minister Healther Humphreys and MEP Sean Kelly - both of whom are seeking the part's nomination to stand in the forthcoming presidential election.

Prior to the function, the official opening will take place of local TD Keira Keogh's new constituency offices in Westport.

She won the seat vacated by Mr. Ring in last November's general election.
