Status yellow rain warning issued for Mayo

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow Rain Warning for counties Clare, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, and Sligo, with the alert coming into effect from 6 p.m. this Wednesday, August 27, until 6 p.m. Thursday, August 28.

The forecaster is warning of significant rainfall accumulations from heavy showers and longer spells of rain, with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms across the affected areas.

Potential impacts include, localised flooding on roads and in low-lying areas, poor visibility for motorists and pedestrians, and difficult travelling conditions across the region.

The warning, issued at 10.50 a.m. on Wednesday morning, comes as unsettled conditions continue to dominate the Atlantic seaboard.

Motorists and those planning to travel are being urged to exercise caution, particularly during periods of heavier downpours.
