Ballinglen biennial exhibition opens tomorrow in north Mayo
The Ballinglen Arts Foundation and Museum of Art is delighted to invite the public to the official opening of its second biennial exhibition on Saturday, August 30, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The exhibition will be held in The Ballinglen Museum of Art, Ballycastle.
This major international open call group exhibition runs from August 30 to January 9, 2026 and features the work of artists from across the globe, working in painting, drawing, print, sculpture, and photography.
Locals, visitors to the area, and those with a love of the arts are warmly encouraged to attend the opening and experience the diverse range of contemporary work selected by a distinguished panel of artists: Mick O’Dea PPRHA, Nona Hershey, and Erik Mattijssen.
Mairéad Melody Carr, manager of Mayo North Tourism, encouraged people to take the opportunity to visit and said: “Ballinglen is worth a visit at any time, but this biennial exhibition will be especially worth it.”
Una Forde, managing director of Ballinglen Arts Foundation added: “The biennial marks an important milestone in our mission to foster creative exchange and artistic innovation.
"By bringing together such a wide spectrum of artistic voices, we aim to create a dynamic and thought-provoking exhibition that celebrates the richness of contemporary art.”
The exhibition will feature works by more than 100 artists, including both emerging and established names such as Mie Akatsu, Sinéad Aldridge, Aidan Crotty, Nuala Clarke, Gabhann Dunne, Susan Early, Hugh Frazer, Eddie Kennedy, Serena Kitt, Stephen Lawlor, Christine Mackey, Erik Mattijssen, Sinéad Ní Mhaonaigh, Mick O’Dea, Amelia Stein, Donald Teskey, Michael Wann, Lee Welch, and many more.
