Motorist arrested for 'performing doughnuts' on Mayo N17 roadway

The Mayo Gardaí Roads Policing Unit has arrested a motorist after observing a vehicle performing doughnuts in the middle of the N17 near Charlestown in wet weather conditions yesterday evening.

The motorist was arrested and charged with dangerous driving and will now appear before the courts.

The car was seized under Section 109(A) of the Road Traffic Act.

A garda spoksperson stated: "Under this legislation , in order to get the vehicle back, a motorist must apply to the Judge of the District Court.

"This type of behaviour has no place on our roads and endangers lives and other road users."
