Castlebar Town are Under 19 girls league champions

CASTLEBAR Town were crowned Hayes Mechanical & Engineering Under 19 Mayo Girls League champions last night (Monday).

A 3-1 win away to Killala sealed the deal - adding to the club's women's Premier League and Mayo Women's Cup titles this year.

With runners-up Ballyglass winning 7-0 at home to Ballina Town, a win was a must for the Castlebar team on their travels, in what was a tricky assignment.

Level at 1-1 at half-time, captain Saoirse Mahon nudged them back in front 11 minutes into the second half and a Sarah King goal in the 77th minute made matters more comfortable as they ran out winners.

Mayo Women's League secretary Joe King presented the cup to captain Saoirse Mahon.
