Mayo hairdressers seeking urgent reinstatement of 9% vat rate

The Irish Hairdressers Federation have launched its pre-budget campaign calling for the urgent reinstatement of the 9% VAT rate, warning that spiralling costs are driving hair, beauty, and barber businesses to the wall.

They say the government has failed to grapple with soaring business costs, including energy, insurance, labour, and materials, leaving small salon-based businesses struggling to survive.

The federation is warning that without action, more local businesses will be forced to close their doors.
