Death of popular member of Mayo motoring trade
The death has taken place at his residence of Declan Mellotte, Derrylea, Westport Road, Castlebar.
Proprietor of Mellotte Motors, he was a popular figure in the Mayo motoring trade and news of his passing has evoked a tremendous sense of loss in the town.
Fond tributes are being paid to the deceased on social media.
One stated: "A gentleman, kind and fun."
He is deeply regretted by his heartbroken family: sons Cíolán and Dáire, daughter Deirbhile, and their mother Mary (Lally), brother David (London), sisters-in-law Teresa (Claregalway), Sue (Woodford, London) and Bernie (Walsh), brothers-in-law Patrick, Francis, John Joe, James and Danny, adored nieces and nephews Lisa, Orla, Richard and Mark, long term friend Noel Moran, relatives, neighbours and friends.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.
He was predeceased by Kathleen and Martin Brady, his parents Stanley and Detta, brothers Richard (Claregalway) and Joseph (Hampstead Heath, UK).
Declan will repose in Coady’s Funeral Home, Castlebar, on Thursday from 5.30 to 7 p.m.
Funeral cortége will arrive at the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, on Friday morning at 10.40 a.m. for Requiem Mass at 11.00 a.m.
Declan will be laid to rest afterwards in the New Cemetery, Castlebar.
