Sensational Kids’ launches innovative music-based therapy group in Mayo

Sensational Kids – an award-winning social enterprise and charity, is gearing up to unveil a new initiative entitled 'The Sound Explorers' at its Child Development Centre, Lakeside Retail Park, Claremorris.

This is a creative group designed to promote speech and language development through the power of music for children with additional needs.

This initiative, set to launch in October, will be spearheaded by Bríd Gleeson, a CORU registered, qualified speech and language therapist and a graduate of Trinity College Dublin.

Karen Leigh, founder and CEO of Sensational Kids, said: “We are excited to launch this wonderful new initiative in Mayo. Speech, language and communication are every child’s right and the foundation for learning and lifelong success. The Sound Explorers programme will bring fun, music and clinical expertise, giving children a special experience, using music as a tool to build confidence and enhance communication skills.”

Bríd Gleeson, speech and language therapist, added: “The Sound Explorers aims to bridge the world of music and speech therapy, offering a fun, inclusive and evidence-informed approach to supporting communication in young children. I cannot wait to welcome children to our group.”

The Sound Explorers’ group sizes will be three to five children aged from three to seven years of age. The group will meet in 45-minute sessions once a week for four weeks.
