Mayo grieves the passing of 'wonderful person' Caroline Loftus

The death of Caroline Loftus (née Haran), Davitt Place, Swinford, and formerly of Cloonshanville, Frenchpark, Co. Roscommon, has evoked an immense outpouring of sadness and loss in the community.

In her 40s, she died unexpectedly yesterday at Mayo University Hospital with her family by her side.

Warm tributes are being paid to her on social media.

"We have all lost a wonderful person. RIP, Caroline, thanks for the beautiful memories," one stated.

Another said: "Caroline had such a vibrant presence and our hearts will ache without her in our lives.

"Her laughter and joy will now serve as cherished memories for us all."

A further tribute observed: "A beautiful, friendly young lady."

A working colleague of Caroline's at Mayo Hospice described her as 'a wonderful person'.

She is sadly missed and remembered with love by her heartbroken family: her husband Paul, sons Cillian, Enda and Conor, mother Carrie, brother Alan, aunt Madeline, niece and nephews Katie, Joseph and Keith and their mother, Ciara, her mother-in-law Imelda, brother-in-law Damian, sister-in-law Mary, relatives, neighbours, colleagues at The Mayo Hospice and her many friends.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.

Caroline will repose in The Sharkey Funeral Home, Ballaghaderreen, on Sunday from 4 until 6.30 p.m.

Removal from her home (Davitt Place) on Monday at 11.30 a.m. to Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Swinford, arriving for Mass of the Resurrection at 12 noon, followed by interment in Cloonshanville Cemetery, Frenchpark.

May her gentle soul rest in peace.
