Mayo's Oisín Mullin scores his first ever AFL goal

Kilmaine native Oisín Mullin scored his first ever AFL goal for Geelong Cats in Friday’s qualifying final clash against Brisbane Lions. The Geelong Cats ran out 112-74 winners in the end.

The former Mayo star and two-time young GAA footballer of year was introduced as a substitute for Geelong and managed to acquire the goal (six-pointer) late in the first quarter of what was an epic showdown. Incidentally, it was Mullin’s 41st game for the club.

In a post-match interview, Oisín’s team-mate and captain Patrick Dangerfield compared the Kilmaine native to Aussie rules star Nick Daicos who plays with Collingwood.

Geelong will now have the luxury of a home preliminary final, where they will face the Adelaide Crows, Great Western Sydney Giants or Hawthorn (Hawks) for a spot in the Grand Final.
