West’s Awake Rally for Palestine today
GROUPS from across Galway, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo and Clare are coming together in Galway today (Saturday) for The West’s Awake Rally for Palestine.
It is part of a series of rallies taking place nationwide today demanding that the Irish government act immediately to stop the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
Today also marks National Services Day and the rally will commemorate the vital work of Ireland's frontline services workers while also demanding that emergency workers' protected status during conflict be respected and enforced worldwide. Over 1,500 health workers have been killed in Gaza over the last 22 months.
Frontline services must never be a target, organisers say.
The rally will assemble at 1.45 p.m. at Fr. Burke Park and march to Eyre Square to listen to guest speakers from Gaza and musicians from across Connaught.
