ALDI stores in Mayo nominate charities and community groups to receive donations
ALDI Ireland has today announced that six Mayo charities and community groups have become the latest beneficiaries of ALDI’s Community Grants programme, recognising their valuable contributions to communities across the county.
Receiving €500 per nomination in ALDI gift cards are: Active Retirement Ireland - Young at Heart Club, Erris Heartbeat Defibrillator Committee, Involve Ballina, Irish Red Cross - Claremorris Branch, Beyond Surviving, and Ballyhaunis Community Council,.
The funds have been donated by local ALDI Mayo employees as part of the retailer’s ongoing support for communities nationwide.
The ALDI Community Grants programme helps fund local charities and community organisations that contribute vital work and a wide range of services – from supporting mental health and disability services to helping animal shelters, youth clubs, cancer supports and more.
The recipients are nominated by ALDI Mayo team members, ensuring that the causes supported by the programme are meaningful to and directly benefit the communities where employees live and work.
Since launching the annual Community Grants programme in 2016, ALDI has committed €844,500 in donations to positively support more than 1,000 local charity branches and community groups across Ireland.
Rachel Nugent, national sustainability manager with ALDI Ireland, said: “We continue to be proud of the impact that our Community Grants programme has across the country. We are pleased to be donating €86,500 this year to so many vital local charities and community groups across Ireland. These organisations are the backbone of their communities, and we’re delighted to play a part in helping them do what they do best.
“This Community Grants programme is a reflection of ALDI’s ongoing commitment to building strong, lasting relationships in the communities we serve. Since 2016, we’ve donated €844,500 through the programme, and we look forward to supporting even more local causes in the years ahead.”
Operating six stores in Co. Mayo, ALDI plays an active role in the local community. Through its long-standing partnership with FoodCloud, ALDI Mayo stores have donated almost 400,000 meals to local charities, helping avoid more than 500,000 kgs of CO2e emissions.
