End of an era for Castlebar's Station Road due to passing of Margaret Groarke (92)

The death has occurred of Margaret Groarke (née Mc Donagh), Station Road, Castlebar, and late of Taugheen, Claremorris.

In her 93rd year, she died peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff in Mayo Hospice surrounded by her family.

A much-loved and respected personality, her passing represents the end of an era for Station Road, a street where she was held in high regard by her neighbours for so many years.

Tributes on social media described the deceased as 'a lovely woman'.

She is deeply regretted by her heartbroken family: sons Seán and Enda, daughter Dympna, sister Nora (Cawfield, UK), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, daughter-in-law Denise, son-in-law Sean, Enda's partner Marrion, grandchildren Shane and Liane, great-grandchild Lily, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband John, son Jimmy, parents John and Annie, brothers and sisters.

Remains will repose in Coady’s Funeral Home, Castlebar, on Friday from 5.30 p.m. with removal at 7 p.m. to her residence.

Removal from her residence on Saturday morning at 10.30 a.m for Requiem Mass at 11.30a.m. in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar (via The Mall).

Margaret will be laid to rest afterwards in the New Cemetery, Castlebar.
