Major new investment planned at Mayo GAA headquarters

Mayo GAA is to develop a new state-of-the-art all-weather 4G astroturf GAA pitch at Hastings Insurance MacHale Park, Castlebar.

The organisation outlined its vision and plans for the new facility at last night's County Board meeting in Castlebar.

Seamus Tuohy, chairman, expressed his gratitude to club delegates for their support.

“We have carefully examined all aspects of the project from design, planning, financial considerations and feasibility.

"It is crystal clear that the demand and need for a state-of-the-art, all-weather pitch is overwhelming.

"This development is about ensuring Mayo GAA has the infrastructure to support players year-round, at every level,” said Mr. Tuohy.

He also gave an assurance to the delegates that there would be no additional financial burden on the clubs to pay for this new facility.

The new facility at Mulvey Park will be located at the Albany end of Hastings Insurance MacHale Park and will be complete before the start of next season.
