Busy Mayo greenway reopening after extensive safety works

The Castlebar to Turlough greenway is set to reopen fully to the public after being closed for several weeks for major resurfacing and fencing works.

Councillor Ger Deere has welcomed the completion of works on the popular amenity.

He stated hundreds of people use it every day for walking and cycling - and he and other elected representatives were very concerned  that the fencing along the river had fall into disrepair and posed a serious safety issue.

Councillor Deere thanked Mayo County Council staff and everybody involved in improvements.

The greenway will be open from this evening (Friday) but will be closed for a short period next week in order to finish some minor works
