Mayo branch part of bank's €7m. upgrade programme

A MAYO bank is among a €7 million branch upgrade programme being rolled out by the Bank of Ireland.

Bank of Ireland, in an update on its 2025 upgrade programme, has reported that refurbishment works in 13 branches are now complete, work in four branches is currently underway, and work on a further seven locations are on track for completion by the end of the year.

The Ballinrobe branch is part of planned works on an additional seven branches, with work set to commence soon, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

Each of the 24 refurbished branches will have a dedicated office to support vulnerable or neurodiverse customers and colleagues. Enhanced wheelchair access has also been implemented at several locations.

Commenting on the branch upgrade progress, Susan Russell, CEO of Bank of Ireland’s Retail Ireland division, said: “Providing a leading branch-banking experience is one of our key priorities and these refurbishments ensure customers enjoy the latest technology and accessible, comfortable spaces. Our overall branch investment, including refurbishments, state-of-the-art ATMs, and life-saving defibrillators, reflects our deep commitment to serving communities.

"We will continue to invest in our branches, which provide access to cash and other essential banking services for customers.”

Bank of Ireland also recently provided an update on its nationwide ATM upgrade programme, with 118 new devices now installed across 30 branch locations. This rollout is part of an additional €60 million branch network and ATM infrastructure investment.
