Mayo's Sancta Maria College named an Apple Distinguished School
Sancta Maria College in Louisburgh has been recognised as an Apple Distinguished School for 2025–2028.
This prestigious three-year designation places the school among an elite group of leading schools worldwide.
The recognition celebrates Sancta Maria College’s continuous innovation in using Apple technology to inspire, imagine, and impact teaching and learning. It also reflects the school’s commitment to preparing students for the future through world-class digital learning experiences.
To mark the announcement, the school has released a short video (see below) showcasing how students and teachers are using technology every day to transform learning.
Principal Dr. Áine Moran said: “Technology is no longer an add-on in education; it is essential, especially with the reforms of the Junior Cycle and Senior Cycle. At Sancta Maria College, we are proud to be front runners in showing how technology can be integrated for maximum impact on learning.
“This award highlights the adaptability, creativity, and commitment of our staff, who always put the needs of our students first.”
As an Apple Distinguished School, Sancta Maria College is now part of a global network of innovative schools that model excellence in educational technology. This recognition shines a light not only on the students and staff of the school, but also on the wider Louisburgh and Mayo community, proving that world-class opportunities are available right here in the west of Ireland.
The Apple Distinguished School award runs from 2025-2028 and acknowledges the collaborative effort of staff, students, and parents in creating a dynamic digital learning culture.
