Mayo GAA championship saga comes to an end
Hollymount Carramore GAA Club have announced tonight that it drawing a line under their dispute over a two-point score that wasn't - and resulted them in going out of the county's intermediate football championship.
Having having two appeals rejected in the space of a week to be restored to the competition after the incorrect two-point score - as revealed in Mayo GAA TV footage - cost them dearly in their final drawn group match against Kilmaine, the club has opted to take their case to Croke Park.
The decision, confirmed to The Connaught Telegraph, was taken at a meeting of the club's committee.
The way is now cleared for Kilmaine to face Kilmeena in next Saturday's quarter-final clash.
But the episode has underlined how rigid the GAA's rulebook is - as well as its failure to keep apace with modern technology.
