Intimate Mayo gig for US guitar virtuoso

Mayo’s newest independent music venue, NCF Cultural Co-op in Ballina, welcomes acclaimed US guitarist Sir Richard Bishop to Ballina for a limited capacity show on Sunday, September 28.

Bishop is renowned for his mercurial guitar playing with legendary Seattle band Sun City Girls, but he has also released a significant body of solo work.

This will be Bishop’s first solo acoustic tour in 10 years. He releases his new album, entitled Hillbilly Ragas, on September 26 on the Drag City label.

Bishop takes his influences from Indian ragas, flamenco, Appalachian folk and gypsy styles. His compositions often reflect his travels in India, the Middle East and North Africa.
