Mayo communities await Tidy Towns results as date revealed

Castlebar Tidy Towns has been invited attend the National Tidy Towns Awards on October 24 in Croke Park.

A statement outlined: "This recognition from the adjudicators is a strong acknowledgement of the hard work and dedication shown by our community in keeping standards high throughout the year.

"We are hopeful that our efforts will once again be rewarded and that Castlebar will retain its Gold Medal status for a remarkable seventh year in succession.

"This would be a great honour for the town and a fitting tribute to the commitment of so many people.

"We greatly appreciate the continued support of Mayo County Council, our community groups, schools, residents’ associations, businesses, and individual volunteers who have all played their part in making Castlebar a clean, green and welcoming place.

"A very special word of thanks also goes to our new residents from the IPAS centres who have joined in with great spirit and are already contributing positively to our campaign."

Ger Deere, chairperson of Castlebar Tidy Towns, added: “This invitation is a proud moment for Castlebar. It shows what can be achieved when people come together with pride of place and a shared sense of civic spirit.

"I want to commend all of our volunteers and supporters for their hard work and energy throughout the year. Community engagement is at the heart of what we do, and it is what makes Castlebar the town we can all be proud of.”
