Road works set to cause delays on busy Mayo town route

Motorists in Castlebar are advised to expect delays this week as essential road works take place on the L1724 Rathbawn Road.

Mayo County Council confirmed that the works will run from Wednesday, September 24, to Friday, September 26, between 9.10 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. each day.

A Stop/Go traffic management system will be in operation throughout the works, with the council warning that delays are likely, particularly at peak times.

Local access will be maintained for residents, but some short delays may still be encountered.

Emergency vehicles will be accommodated at all times.

The council is advising road users to use alternative routes where possible to avoid congestion.
