Mayo LGFA championship finals confirmed for Hastings Insurance MacHale Park
Mayo LGFA has confirmed details for the 2025 championship county finals, with the intermediate and junior deciders set to be staged as a double-header at Hastings Insurance MacHale Park, Castlebar, on Saturday, October 4, and the senior showdown to take place at the county grounds on Sunday, October 12.
“We are very grateful to Mayo GAA for their support in making Hasting Insurance MacHale Park available for our showcase fixtures. The chance for our players, clubs, families and supporters to experience finals in the county grounds is really special,” said Sinéad Stagg, chairperson of Mayo LGFA.
The fixtures are as follows: intermediate final – Claremorris v MacHale Rovers on Saturday, October 4, at 1 p.m.; junior final – Parke v Swinford/Killasser on Saturday, October 4, at 3 p.m.; senior final – Knockmore v Westport on Sunday, October 12, at 2 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Junior B Cup and Shield finals will be played in Swinfiord Amentiy Park on Saturday, October 11, at 3 p.m. and 12 p.m. respectively (teams to be determined).
Mayo LGFA acknowledged that this year’s fixture calendar brought about some unavoidable clashes between the men’s and ladies’ championships. In a hugely positive step, Mayo GAA and Mayo LGFA hope to jointly plan key championship fixtures for 2026.
“This is a really positive step for Gaelic football in Mayo,” said Ms. Stagg. “By working together, Mayo GAA and Mayo LGFA will be aiming to avoid pressure on facilities, referees and media, and above all we'll be ensuring that all of our players and supporters get the very best experience from our county championships.”
The chairperson concluded: “We have a thrilling finals series ahead of us and we hope that the parishes will be out in force to support their brilliant ladies.”
