Appeal over 'chaotic' Mayo junction

MEASURES are needed to address a dangerous junction in Ballyvary.

Describing it as 'chaotic', Councillor Ger Deere says there have been accidents at the Foxford/Straide road junction onto the N5 nearly every week in the last number of years.

Coming from Foxford and turning on to the N5 saw people experiencing delays and getting frustrated, taking chances. And it's been busier than normal recently with a road closure and diversion in place.

Councillor Deere suggested a roundabout or lights be looked at for the junction, noting how there is plenty of space at the location.

Speaking at a municipal meeting, he asked that the matter be raised with TII, saying: “Something needs to be done.”
