Gardaí in Mayo clamping down on illegal disabled bay parking

Gardaí in Mayo have issued a clear signal that it is clamping down heavily on illegal disabled bay parking.

A number of motorists have been issued with fixed charge notices, with a penalty of €150, after breached were detected in Ballina.

The detections were made by community gardaí participating in Operation Enable which has been developed as part of the working relationship built up between An Garda Síochána and Disability Federation of Ireland to pro-actively target parking on footpaths and disabled bays.

While on patrol they encountered a number of motorists who were parking in disabled bays without displaying a disabled person's parking permit while others were using a permit which had been issued to another person.
