Death of 'lovely woman' Ann Geraghty evokes Mayo sadness

The death of Ann Geraghty (née Condon), Richard Street, Castlebar, has evoked a great sense of loss in the community.

A member of an old and respected Castlebar family, she died peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff in Mayo Hospice, Castlebar, surrounded by her loving family.

Warm tributes are being paid to her on social media.

"Ann was an amazing, lovely woman and a great friend," one stated.

"She will be remembered as kind and generous always - and her welcoming smile will never be forgotten," another said.

"Ann was a wonderful lady, a lovely neighbour and she will be sadly missed," a further tribute observed.

She is deeply regretted by her heartbroken family: husband Brian, sons Richard, Rowan and Patrick, brother Anto, daughters-in-law Noreen and Caroline, grandchildren Joseph, Katie, Christopher, Matthew and Ethan, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

Ann was predeceased by her parents Kate and Richard, infant brother Joseph, brother Richard and sister-in-law Teresa.

Ann will repose in Coady’s Funeral Home, Castlebar, tomorrow (Monday) from 5.30 p.m. with removal at 7 p.m. to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.

Requiem Mass on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. followed by cremation service Lakelands Crematorium, Co. Cavan.

May her gentle soul rest in peace.
