Tributes to popular Mayo personality Tony Walsh on his passing
The death has taken place of Anthony (Tony) Walsh, Garryduff Drive, Castlebar, and late of Shunnagh, Parke.
He died peacefully yesterday at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Castlebar.
The deceased was a popular member of the staff of the former Prendergast's Men’s Shop, Main Street, Castlebar, for many years,
Tributes on social media have described him as 'kind and helpful'.
"He was a very polite and nice gentleman," another tribute stated.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Bernie (née Lally), daughter Ciara, son Shane, granddaughter Saoirse and her mother Erin, sisters Agnes Kelly (Ballina), Rita Mone (Letterkenny) and Margaret Lawton and her husband Ted (Cork), nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, all the family circle, friends and neighbours, to whom sympathy is tendered.
Tony was predeceased by his daughter Karen, parents John and Nora (née Roache), brothers John Joe and Paddy, and sisters Rose Stenson, Eileen Walsh, Sr. Teresa Walsh and Mary Kate Walsh.
Remains will repose in Kilcoyne’s Funeral Home, Thomas Street, Castlebar, tomorrow (Tuesday) from 5.30 to 7 p.m., followed by removal to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, arriving at 7.30 p.m.
Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with burial afterwards in the New Cemetery, Parke.
