Hollymount LGFA will be celebrating their 40-year anniversary with a gathering in Hollymount Community Centre on Saturday (October 4) at 8 p.m.
Founded in 1985, the club has produced several inter-county players and is one of the most successful ladies' Gaelic football clubs in Mayo.
Hollymount LGFA contested an All-Ireland club final in 1986 while still a fledgling club and enjoyed remarkable success in Mayo and Connacht until the turn of the millennium.

By 2000, Hollymount had secured 11 Mayo senior county titles and nine Connacht titles. Eight Hollymount players were part of the history-making Mayo team that won the 1999 All-Ireland senior football championship for the very first time.
That year, the club contested their last All-Ireland senior club final against Shelmaliers of Wexford, who won the title after a replay in highly controversial circumstances.
To mark their 40th anniversary, the club is producing a commemorative booklet entitled Hollymount Ladies Gaelic Football Association: Celebrating Four Decades of Football, Friendship and Community, which features exclusive interviews with players and administrators who have served the club for decades.
