Confirmation that Mayo Mayhem will go ahead this weekend

The hugely successful Mayo Mayhem windsurfing event, which was scheduled for last weekend, will now go ahead this weekend (Saturday and Sunday, October 4 and 5).

The competition will take place either on Keel Beach on Achill Island or in Mulranny, depending on wind direction.

Powered by RWE, Mayo Mayhem is Ireland’s premier windsurfing event. It returns as a three-star ranked world tour event, attracting top windsurfers from Ireland and overseas to compete along the Wild Atlantic Way.

Expect a spectacular display of colour, skill, courage and adrenaline as riders battle the elements for the Mayo Mayhem 25 title. Competitors are scored on their extreme jump and wave-riding skills, with spectators calling it a mix of surfing and motor-cross on water.

Mayo is currently under wind and rain warnings as the first storm of the autumn/winter period, Storm Amy, is about to make its presence felt.
