Mayo braces for Storm Amy as Status Orange wind warning issued
Mayo has been placed under a Status Orange Wind Warning as Storm Amy moves in, with dangerous conditions expected across the county on Friday, October 3.
The warning is in effect from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday, when near gale force to gale force winds are forecast.
Met Éireann has cautioned of a risk of fallen trees, flying debris, wave overtopping along coasts, and very difficult travelling conditions.
In addition, a Status Yellow Wind Warning will be in place on either side of the Orange alert, from 12 noon to 2pm on Friday and again from 10pm Friday until midnight Saturday, October 4.
Members of the public are being urged to exercise extreme caution, particularly motorists, pedestrians, and those in coastal areas.
