Storm Amy: Flooding forces road closure of Mayo's R312

Motorists are being advised to avoid the road between Bellacorrick and Castlebar this evening after heavy flooding at Glenhest forced a full closure.

Fine Gael councillor Gerry Coyle issued the notice on social media this afternoon showing intense flooding on the popular route.

Mayo County Council has been notified of the situation and further updates are expected as crews assess the damage.

With Storm Amy continuing to lash the county, the public is being urged to exercise caution and, where possible, to remain indoors for their own safety.
