Storm Amy forces rescheduling of Mayo LGFA finals

Storm Amy continues to cause havoc across Mayo, not least to the Gaelic games calendar, forcing almost universal cancellations and postponements.

Despite the challenges, Mayo LGFA have confirmd that the intermediate and junior cup finals scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday) will now go ahead on Sunday thanks to the resilience of the Hastings Insurance MacHale Park pitch and the support of the grounds staff.

Following close liaison with Mayo GAA counterparts after the cancellation of their weekend fixtures, Mayo LGFA secured new times for the junior and intermediate deciders, as follows: Parke v Swinford (junior final) at 12 noon; Claremorris v MacHale Rovers (intermediate final) at 2 p.m.

The move to Sunday provides greater scope to assess the impact of Storm Amy and ensure conditions are safe for players, officials and supporters.

Mayo LGFA stresses that all fixtures remain subject to review in the coming hours, particularly in light of flooding and road closures across the county. Player and supporter welfare will remain the top priority.

All tickets issued for Saturday’s original fixtures remain valid for Sunday’s rescheduled games.

Mayo LGFA wishes to sincerely thank Mayo GAA for their support and cooperation throughout this process and looks forward to welcoming the four outstanding teams to Hastings Insurance MacHale Park for what promises to be a fantastic showcase of ladies football.
