Mayo climbing wall proposal expected to be completed next spring

THE new climbing wall in Castlebar remains on target for a spring finish date.

The tender process for the specialist climbing wall element has now been completed.

The submissions have been evaluated, a comprehensive report has been prepared, and clarifications are currently being sought from the preferred tenderer.

The next phase of the project at Lough Lannagh will involve tendering for the construction and fit-out of the facility.

Preparation of the tender documents for this stage is underway.

The update was issued to Castlebar Municipal District councillors, where Councillor Blackie Gavin wondered when will the project start, saying it has been 'so slow to move'.

People are asking when is it going to start, he told management.

He was told the tender documents for the main construction work should be published in the next week or two and it is still on target for a finish date next spring.
