Mayo grieves death of 'kind and generous' Margot Durcan

The death of Margot Durcan (née Farrell), The Oaks, Turlough Road, Castlebar, and formerly of Market Square, Castlebar, and Ballina, is deeply regretted.

Margot died peacefully in the exceptional care of the staff of Cuan Chaitriona Nursing Home, Castlebar, in the presence of all her family.

The deceased has been described in a social media tribute as 'such a lovely, kind, generous lady'.

Margot did a great deal of charity work over the years and was a loyal volunteer with the St. Vincent De Paul Society.

She will be sadly missed by her loving daughter Niamh and partner Jarlath, her adored grandson Hugh, her sister Marie (Castlebar), brothers Gerard, Joseph and Padraig, best friend Nuala McCarthy, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and many friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

Margot was predeceased by her husband John, her mother Agnes Farrell (née McGowan, a native of Glenisland, Castlebar) and her father Joe Farrell (a native of Castleblaney, Co. Monaghan).

Margot will repose in Kilcoyne’s Funeral Home, Thomas Street, Castlebar, this evening (Monday) from 5.30 p.m. with prayers at 7.00pm.

Requiem Mass takes place tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Church of the Holy Rosary at 11.30 a.m. with committal service afterwards in Shannon Crematorium.

May her gentle soul rest in peace.
