Mayo row reignites over motorists parking on footpaths

Motorists creating obstacles by parking in cycleways and on footpaths need to stop.

The issues they are creating has been highlighted by Councillor Donna Sheridan.

On the Newport Road in Castlebar, bikes and buggies cannot get by safely due to the manner of some parking.

Councillor Sheridan receives calls about it from parents every morning – they have to drive their children to school as they can't use the cycle lanes.

Councillor Sheridan requested a report on how many times the traffic wardens have visited problem areas and the number of tickets issued.
