Major social housing proposal unveiled for Mayo town site

Mayo County Council has revealed plans to construct 64 terraced houses on a site at Lawn Road, Castlebar, as part of a major social housing plan.

The project, on a site at the rear of McHale Road, will consist of dwellings interspersed with semi-formal urban spaces and alongside a new naturally landscaped public green area.

The development will include the provision of new footpaths and roads, site access, installation of new services, cycle and car parking as well as boundary walls and fencing.

The project requires the approval by way of a Part 8 process under the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 by elected members of the council to proceed.

The plans are available for viewing until Tuesday, November 4, at the planning office, Aras an Chontae, The Mall, Castlebar.

Submissions and observations can be made up until November 19.
