First Mayo club achieves FAI Club Mark Two Star Award

CASTLEBAR Celtic has become the first club in Mayo to achieve the FAI Club Mark Two Star Award.

The FAI Club Mark is an award for grassroots clubs based on best practice in their management and administration. The programme aims to support and encourage clubs to improve standards off the field, resulting in stronger clubs and a stronger game.

As an FAI Club Mark Two Star club, Castlebar Celtic have demonstrated a consistent and high standard of club governance and administration, child welfare, safeguarding and coach development, club strategic and development plan, sustainability, club coaching structure, along with multiple formats of football and engagement with FAI programmes.

Announcing the award last night, the club paid tribute to its Club Mark sub-committee of Pat Gavin, Pat Naughton, Joe Mc Donald, Patricia Heaney and Marian Robinson for their work in putting the application together to ensure all the hard work of the committee, volunteers, coaches and players, members and sponsors doesn't go unnoticed.

FAI staff Barry McGann and Nigel Naughton were also thanked for their support on a 'proud day' for the club.
