Three Mayo organisations benefit from €500k community fund
SE Systems, one of Ireland’s leading energy solutions providers, has announced the recipients of €500,000 in funding to 45 community and charity organisations across the country under its Community Fund.
Three Mayo organisations have benefited from the fund, namely Mayo Mental Health Association, Charlestown Community Garden and Mayo North East TÚS/RSS.
The Community Fund, which first launched in 2022, has now awarded over €3 million to projects nationwide.
This independent fund supports non-profits, charities, sports clubs and voluntary organisations to lower their carbon footprint, cut energy costs, and strengthen local resilience.
This year’s recipients span all four provinces, with 21 projects in Munster, 14 in Leinster, 6 in Connacht and 4 in Ulster. Examples include:
Sports clubs such as Athy Rugby Football Club (Kildare) and Wayside Celtic FC (Dublin), both upgrading to efficient LED lighting.
Community centres such as Cnoc Bui Community Arts Centre (Cork), investing in solar PV and heating solutions.
Charities and care facilities, including projects in healthcare and social support, enhancing facilities while cutting energy costs.
John O’Leary, Co-Founder and CEO of SE Systems, said: “One of the values that drives us is building greener, more resilient places to live and work.
"Our Community Fund enables that vision, providing long-term, viable energy solutions for local organisations that are the backbone of Ireland’s towns and villages.”
Youenn Lowry, Co-Founder and Managing Director of SE Systems, said: “These projects demonstrate the vital role communities can play in building a greener, more sustainable Ireland.
"We are proud to support local organisations in achieving lasting energy improvements that benefit people and places across the country.”
