Mayo man pleads guilty to possession of child sexual abuse material

A Mayo man has pleaded guilty to possession of more than 30 videos containing child sexual abuse material.

Dylan McDonagh, aged 30, of Rathbawn Avenue, Castlebar, pleaded guilty at a sitting of Castlebar Circuit Criminal Court to the possession of child sexual abuse material (known in law as child pornography).

The offence occurred between April 23, 2024, and May 25, 2024, with 33 videos found in his possession.

Defence counsel for McDonagh sought a probation report and a psychological report for their client prior to sentencing.

Judge Eoin Garavan adjourned the case until February 12, 2026, for sentencing.
