Mayo rugby club's Quid Games event to take place this weekend
Ballinrobe Rugby Club is holding its biggest ever fundraiser this coming Saturday (October 18) in the McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris.
Starting at 8 p.m., the Quid Games event consists of six skill-based games designed purely for fun.
The journey began around this time last year when the club committee decided to create a comprehensive club development plan. Naturally, such a plan requires funding, and they hit upon the idea of Quid Games – a fun and unique event inspired by the hit Netflix series Squid Game (minus the violence, of course!).
The funds raised from this event will go toward the development of club facilities, with the main goal being the purchase of land to help future-proof the club.
Contestants will compete and face elimination until two remain for the final round. There will be one ultimate winner who will receive an amazing cash prize of €3,000, with €2,000 awarded to second place and €1,000 to third – all for the winners to spend as they wish.
There are 22 contestants taking part, each with a personal fundraising goal of €1,500. Their efforts have been a huge success over the past few weeks, with a wide range of events such as poker nights, raffles, quiz nights, bake sales, car washes, and fancy dress disco nights – all in support of Quid Games.
The club is really looking forward to Saturday and hopes to see a big crowd at the McWilliam Park Hotel to cheer on our contestants.
“As a club, we cannot thank the local community enough for the incredible support – whether through donations, sponsorships, or simply spreading the word. It has been truly brilliant,” said Evan Gannon, Ballinrobe Rugby Club.
He added: “A special thank you goes out to our two main event sponsors, Corrib Oil and Cummins Homevalue, for their generous support. This event simply wouldn’t have been possible without them.”
Anyone who would still like to sponsor or donate can do so by logging on to here or through the club's social media pages. Tickets for Quid Games can be purchased here.
The full list of contestants is as follows: Edel O'Malley, Mike Ansbro, Caoimhe O’Toole, Damien Crowe, Rachel Kinneavey, Ann Marie Herward, Dara Whelan, Thomas Lynagh, Tom Carney, Peter Finlay, Ciara Heneghan, Adrian O'Malley, Dylan Keane, Abby Jennings, Liam Burke, Tony Walkin, Conor Costello and John Farrell, Paddy Burke, Eamon Finnerty, Conan Martin, Art O’Neill and Michéal Walsh, and Kevin Mullin.
