Warm Mayo tributes to centenarian Mary Jordan on her passing

The death of Mary Jordan (née Hegarty), Knockthomas, Castlebar, and formerly of Keenagh Beg, Crossmolina, has evoked a tremendous sense of loss in the community.

Mary, who celebrated her 100th birthday earlier this month, died peacefully at home yesterday surrounded by her loving family.

Warm tributes are being paid to her on social media where she has been described as 'a lovely, kind woman who lived a long and fulfilling life'.

"Mary's kindness, warmth and lovely smile will always be remembered," a further tribute stated.

Predeceased by her husband Mark, she is deeply regretted by her loving family: sons Patrick Noel, Vincent, Mark, John and Brendan (Naas), daughters Mary (Balaski), Pauline and Anne (Lane, Co. Clare), brother Jack (Crossmolina), sister (Lizzie, Enniscrone), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren Conor, Padraig, Mark, Niamh, Aoibhinn, Nessa, Caoilfhionn, Nicaoimh, Elbhíra, Shelley, Ella, Hannah, Rachel, Alice, Mark, Claire, James, Ruairí, Áine and Éadaoin, great-grandson Oscar, sons-in-law Darcy and Tommy, daughters-in-law Úna, Christine, Sylvia, Helen and Deirdre, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

Mary will repose at her home this evening (Monday) from 5.30 p.m. with removal at 7.30 p.m. to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.

Requiem Mass on Tuesday morning at 11.30 a.m.

Mary will be laid to rest afterwards in the New Cemetery, Castlebar.
