530 Mayo polling stations will be open for presidential election

A total of 107,414 people in Mayo are registered to vote in next Friday's presidential election.

A total of 530 polling stations will be open from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m.

The Notice of Situation of Polling Stations has been published by on the website of the Mayo Returning Officer, Ann Marie Courell.

Polling hours for the county's offshore islands are shorter.

Clare Island (between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.)

Inishturk (between 9 a.m. and 7.30 p.m.)

Inishbiggle between (9.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m.)

The candidates listed on the ballot paper are as follows:

CONNOLLY

CATHERINE MARTINA ANN CONNOLLY, of Ardán Grattan, An Cladach, Gaillimh, T.D.

GAVIN

JIM GAVIN, of Rathfarnham, Dublin 14, Public Servant, Former Commandant, Óglaigh na hÉireann.

HUMPHREYS

HEATHER HUMPHREYS, of Dernaroy, Aghabog, Co. Monaghan, Former Government Minister and Credit Union Manager.

Ms. Connolly, a serving TD, is an independent candidate while Ms. Humphreys, a former Minister for Social Protection, is the Fine Gael candidate.

Mr. Gavin's name remains on the ballot paper despite him withdrawing from the race on October 5 as the Fianna Fáil candidate.

The count, under the direction of Ann Marie Courell, Mayo Returning Officer, gets underway at the TF Royal Theatre, Castlebar, from 9 a.m. on Saturday.

There is a wide expectation of an early result.
